The second round of indirect talks between Iran and Iran have concluded, according to Iran’s semi-official ISNA news agency, which reported that delegations from both countries had left the venue where the negotiations were taking place. At the same time as it was announced, the two-day tripartite negotiations between the USA – for him also began in Geneva.
Earlier in the day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai told Iranian state media that the Iranian mission was willing to stay in Geneva as long as necessary — even for days or weeks — with the goal of reaching an agreement with Washington.
Also regarding the Iran crisis, the two sides, while the talks were taking place, exchanged threats and made moves in the field, with Tehran announcing a partial closure of the Straits of Hormuz.
Talks on Ukraine have begun
At the same time, as announced, the other negotiations also started in Geneva, on the war in Ukraine, between the delegations of Kiev, Moscow and Washington.
“We are starting a new round of negotiations in a tripartite format: Ukraine, USA and Russia,” said Rustem Umerov in a post on X. He notes that security and humanitarian issues are on the agenda.
The two-day talks, which began today, are expected to focus mainly on the issue of territories and are being held just days before the four-year anniversary on February 24 of the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
At the same time, Donald Trump is putting pressure on both Moscow and Kiev to reach an agreement in a short period of time. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his displeasure, arguing that Washington is pressuring his country more than Russia.
Moscow, for its part, is demanding that Kiev cede the remaining 20% of the Donetsk region, which it has not been able to bring under its control, a claim that the Ukrainian government categorically rejects.
