John Deere acquires tree planting technologies

Agricultural machinery company John Deere announced the acquisition of intellectual property and assets related to tree planting equipment from Finnish machinery manufacturer Risutec Oy.

The completion of the acquisition is scheduled for this month, and the value of the operation was kept confidential.

According to the company, the transaction involves technologies and assets focused on trees. The initiative is part of the company’s strategy for the forestry segment and for serving customers operating in .

The acquired portfolio includes planters configurable according to customers’ operating conditions. The equipment can be integrated with precision forestry software to collect and analyze forest management data.

According to Mary Pat Tubb, global vice president of forestry operations, the equipment reduces dependence on manual planting and can contribute to the productivity of forestry operations.
