In several districts of western Slovakia and some more southern districts of central Slovakia, more significant snowfall should continue to be expected. Snow tongues and drifts can also form. This is reminded by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ), which issued warnings of the first level. Level two warnings are in effect for Bratislava. Snowfall warnings apply to the entire Bratislava and Nitra regions, almost the entire Trnava and Banskobystricky regions, and the districts of Partizánske and Košice mesto. Ten to 20 centimeters of new snow can fall there.
The warnings are valid in more western districts until Friday (February 20) at 10:00 a.m., in the east until 6:00 a.m. Snow tongues and drifts can form in the entire Bratislava and Trnava regions, in almost the entire Nitra region and in the districts of Myjava and Nové Mesto nad Váhom. The Slovak Road Administration (SSC) warns drivers that the Donovaly and Šturec mountain passes are closed to vehicles over ten meters and the Príslop mountain pass to vehicles over 12 meters in total length.
