Ventura accuses Montenegro of presenting “empty ideas” after catastrophes

President of Chega demanded a “quick and clear” government responsecapable of providing guarantees that the country will not repeat failures recorded in previous crises.

Chega’s president, André Ventura, criticized this Fridaythe Prime Minister on Friday, accusing him of announcing a set of empty ideas without a concrete response to the suffering of the populations affected by the recent catastrophes in Portugal.

In statements after the , what spoke to the country after the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers,o Chega’s leader stated that the head of government considered that “things hadn’t gone so bad” and that the country would be “secure in its response”, also accusing the opposition of playing politics “by sending larachas into the air”.

“That’s exactly what happened today”, stated the Chega leader, maintaining that the Government presented “a set of empty goals, programs and ideas”, with no link to the reality experienced by people in the national territory.

According to André Ventura, Portugal went through “one of the worst devastations in its history”with losses estimated at between five and six billion euros, according to a first assessment. The leader highlighted significant damage to the environment, business, housing and work, considering it to be a impact “that we haven’t seen in many decades.”

Given this scenario, the Chega’s president demanded a “quick and clear” government responsecapable of providing guarantees that the country will not repeat failures recorded in previous crises, such as the fires, the blackout or the recent floods that affected several cities in recent years.

Ventura also said that the State has failed in the way it responds to emergencies and that the current Government has not, until now, presented concrete solutions to avoid the recurrence of these problems.
