The parties, PV and PCdoB filed a lawsuit with the (Superior Electoral Court) this Friday (20) against videos published by the senator and pre-candidate for the Presidency (PL-RJ) and other members of the PL produced by artificial intelligence to criticize the parade that honored Lula (PT) in Rio.
The Federation Brasil Da Esperança, which brings together the acronyms, states that opposition members promoted a negative early election campaign, and called for the contents to be removed.
The AI-generated images used in the videos show the president and first lady, Janja, in prison clothes in a jail and captions such as “Bloco do Luladrão”. The videos in question were published by Flávio, through the PL profile, and by parliamentarians Bia Kicis (PL-DF) and Marcos Rogério (PL-RO).
“There is no doubt that the Defendants promoted a negative early election campaign, in that they published a manipulated image on social media with the disqualification of the image and honor, mainly of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, with the dissemination of facts known to be untrue, with the sole intention of negatively influencing the formation of voters’ opinions”, says an excerpt from the request.
The representation also cites a TSE resolution that states that “advertising that slanders, defames or insults any person will not be tolerated.”
In the content, there is also a samba parody with accusations against Lula and members of the government, with mentions of fake news broadcast in previous moments of the administration, such as the taxation of Pix. AI images of ministers Fernando Haddad (Finance) and Gleisi Hoffmann (Institutional Relations) are also used in the videos.
“Within a scenario of political dispute, even if the permissiveness of freedom of expression is even more elastic, one cannot ignore the limits imposed by the Constitution, especially when observing its potential to directly impact the essential core of Brazilian democracy”, says another excerpt.
Last Monday (16), Flávio Bolsonaro said he would file a lawsuit with the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) against “PT’s crimes in Sapucaí”, referring to the parade by the Acadêmicos de Niterói samba school, which paid homage to the president.
