The flooding of the Murú River has affected dozens of families in the Ibuaçu community, in the municipality of Tarauaca. According to information, more than 100 families live in the locality. With the river flooding, some residents face difficulties caused by the advance of the waters.
The situation worries the community, which monitors the river level and the development of the flood in the region.

Flood history
The municipality has already faced notable episodes of flooding in recent years. In 2024, the region’s rivers registered a significant rise, mobilizing emergency actions and reaching urban and rural areas. In 2014, one of the biggest floods ever recorded left a large part of the city submerged and resulted in the declaration of an emergency situation.

The previous episodes reinforce that the Amazon winter period usually brings direct impacts to riverside communities, especially those located in lower areas and close to the riverbed.
