In an atmosphere of The Best, the biggest winner of the award in history is starting to be considered to return to Brazil, and play once again for a club in her home country. Six times best in the world, Marta is on Corinthians’ radar.

Eight years after arriving at Orlando Pride, an American club, Marta’s contract is ending, and despite the proposal existing, it should not be renewed. As a result, the attacking midfielder is desired by the Brazilian black and white team, according to the club’s director of women’s football, Iris Sesso.

“Marta is everyone’s dream, who doesn’t want to have a Marta on the team? I know she is a Corinthians fan. Anyway, of course it’s a dream, and whatever I can do to bring it to fruition, I’ll definitely do it. It’s his (Lucas Piccinato, Corinthians women’s coach) wish to have it, too. We’ve had some conversations, we’re having conversations, but it’s not a simple process. Marta is the Pelé of women’s football. It’s not easy to bring in an athlete of Marta’s stature”, commented Iris on the Corinthians podcast.

Currently 38 years old, Marta intends to play for at least two more years, and despite being approached by many clubs, she is considering returning to her country. Marta’s last season on Brazilian soil was 13 years ago, after leaving Santa Cruz, her club after Vasco da Gama.

Last season, there were 36 games, in which the Brazilian scored 11 goals and provided one assist. Marta’s place at Corinthians would possibly be in the place of Gabi Portilho, member of the FIFA team at The Best.
