Governor of MG questions Banco Master case and cites pressure to stop investigations involving Toffoli
The governor of Minas Gerais, (Novo), this Sunday (Feb 22, 2026) that ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) such as Dias Toffoli are “untouchables”. He relates this to supposed “pressure” for the investigations into the Master Bank Case to be halted.
In a video published on his official profile on X, the Minas Gerais governor stated: “Toffoli has already gotten out of the way, but answer me one thing: How is anyone going to judge a bank of which he himself was a partner?”.
After a closed meeting of Supreme Court ministers in the STF presidency office, on Thursday (12.Feb), Toffoli reporting on investigations related to Banco Master.
Minister Toffoli’s report in the Vorcaro case at the STF was marked by rumors and criticism, after he was criticized for possible intimacy with Daniel Vorcaro, owner of the bank, due to the fact that the minister had participated in events sponsored by Banco Master.
Zema questioned the source of the minister’s resources, which “always lived on public salary”to become a member of a “luxury resort”. The excerpt refers to when Toffoli’s name due to the fact that a project in the north of Paraná, the Resort Tayaya hotel, had in 2021 the participation of a person linked to Vorcaro.
“They are those who judge, but cannot be judged. They are those who live above the law, above me and you. While you are in debt, while the entrepreneur is crushed by taxes, while the retiree is robbed, up there the party continues”highlights the governor.
The miner still criticizes privileges: “Minister with a million-dollar investment, authority with a contract worth R$129 million, super salaries above R$200 thousand, with assistance for gasoline, travel and iPhone”.
According to Zema, the most “revolting” would be the disparity, highlighting that Brazil occupies the 90th position worldwide in per capita income, but would be among the top 5 in salaries for privileged authorities.
“Do you live in one of the richest countries in the world or are you just paying for the party?”questions and concludes: “And then they ask why there is a lack of money for roads, hospitals and schools.”
