Tarcísio: ‘gossip’ about vice investigated does not change ticket – 02/23/2026 – Politics

The governor of São Paulo, (), said that (), should not interfere in the choice of the ticket that will run for re-election.

Ramuth is being investigated by the courts of Andorra, a European country between AEA, on suspicion of having laundered more than US$1.6 million (around R$8.3 million) in a bank account in his name and that of his wife. He denies it.

This Monday morning (23), at an event celebrating 125 years of the Butantan Institute, at the institution’s headquarters, the governor compared the case to gossip when asked whether the investigation would change the ticket.

“Nothing. There’s always gossip before elections,” said Tarcísio. “It’s been on his wife’s declaration of assets and income since 2009, this thing is very old. So, for me it’s something that has nothing to do with it,” he added.

Ramuth is running for vice-president again in the 2026 elections and is seen at Palácio dos Bandeirantes as one of the favorites for the post, along with the president of Alesp (Legislative Assembly), deputy André do Prado (PL).

“I think he’s the one who has to comment and has already been commenting. [Ele] gave all the clarifications to the Court and the press itself. So there’s nothing more to say about it”, said Tarcísio.

Ramuth intends to serve as Tarcísio’s deputy for the 2026 election to the São Paulo government and is seen by the governor’s entourage as one of the favorites for the ticket. Another candidate is the president of the Legislative Assembly, André do Prado (PL).

This Friday, the vice-governor denied any irregularity and stated that he had provided all the necessary clarifications to the Andorra authorities. He also said that all resources were duly declared to the IRS.

The Government of São Paulo stated in a statement released on Friday that there was no open process in Brazil regarding the case. “There is no accusation against the vice-governor and his wife, nor any process opened in Brazil, but rather an investigation into the aforementioned bank AndBank. All clarifications on the case have already been provided directly in Andorra, with no new hearing scheduled and no new facts. All resources have been duly declared, as well as all taxes paid.”
