Succession in Rio will be the topic of a meeting between Flávio and Castro – 02/23/2026 – Brasília Hoje

The senator and pre-candidate for the Presidency, (-RJ), should meet this Tuesday (24) with the governor of , (PL), in Brasília, to discuss the succession in command of the state of Rio de Janeiro.

According to the Sheetthe meeting between the two will serve to broadly debate the party’s strategies for Rio, including the alliances that will be signed and who will take the stage among the chosen candidates.

The PL’s favorite name in Rio to run for government is the state secretary of Cities, Douglas Ruas (PL). He is the son of Captain Nelson Ruas, mayor of São Gonçalo, the third largest electoral college in the state.

The current governor of Rio was re-elected in 2022 and therefore cannot be a candidate in the October elections. At the time, Castro won 58.67% of the valid votes in the first round. He surpassed the then deputy and now president of , (), who came in second place with 27.38%.
