An explosion near a Moscow train station claimed two lives, including a police officer and an attacker who, according to authorities, detonated an explosive device. The Russian Ministry of the Interior also reports injuries.
An explosion on Tuesday night near a train station in Moscow claimed at least two lives. A policeman and a man who, according to the local authorities, detonated the explosive device, lost their lives. Two other police officers were injured, the Russian Interior Ministry said. TASR informs about it with reference to the reports of TASS, Reuters and AFP agencies.
The attacker approached the traffic policemen sitting in the vehicle and then an explosion occurred, the ministry said in a statement. The incident occurred at approximately 0.05 a.m. local time on the square in front of the railway station.
Investigation of the incident
Authorities have launched an investigation and have not yet released details about the type of explosive or the identity of the attacker.
