F-22 fighter jets land in Israel to join US deployment

Fighter landing takes place two days before talks between Iran and the USscheduled for Thursday in Geneva, to try to reach an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program that would prevent US military intervention in the country.

Several United States Air Force F-22 fighter jets landed in Israel from the United Kingdom as part of the American military deployment in the Middle East ahead of a possible attack on Iran.

The Israeli media reported on this detachment which, according to The Times of Israel, is made up of 12 combat aircraft who landed at an Israeli base in the south of the country.

The aircraft, the newspaper indicated, took off from Lakenheath basein the United Kingdom, where they had been since last week, allegedly due to problems with refueling in flight.

The landing of these fighters takes place two days before talks between Iran and the United States (USA)scheduled for Thursday in Geneva, to try to reach an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program that would prevent US military intervention in the country, and on the eve of the arrival in Tel Aviv of the Indian Prime MinisterNarendra Modi, for a two-day visit to Israel.

Negotiations in Geneva will take place under military threat from the United Stateswhose deployment in the Persian Gulf is the largest since the 2003 invasion of Iraq, with two aircraft carriers, several destroyers and dozens of fighters stationed near the Islamic Republic.

Thursday’s meeting will be the third round of indirect nuclear negotiations between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, following two previous meetings in Oman and Geneva, in which Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi played the role of mediator.
