The Japanese Afferl Punch has been something of an internet celebrity for a few days now. Why did Punch become a social media hype? The baby macaque was born in July 2025 at the Ichikawa Zoo near the capital Tokyo. But his mother showed little interest in the offspring; an orangutan cuddly toy was supposed to comfort him a little. Punch gladly accepted this mother replacement, clinging to the cuddly toy and dragging it everywhere with him.
