This year’s winter had two extremes – a warm December and a cold January. According to the portal, the situation was turned around by the arrival of arctic air. It was the so-called the beast from the east. Thanks to this cooling and abundant snowfall succeeded in reviving winter tourism and opening ski lifts even where there was no skiing at all due to the lack of snow in recent years.
For now, February is taking place under the sign of temperature balance, with colder waves regularly alternating with warmer ones. However, according to meteorologists, this stability is coming to an end. The coming days will bring a significant change, taking us away from the winter atmosphere and offering weather that is extremely unusual for this time of year.
Get ready for stable weather brought to us by a large-scale anticyclone. Since its center will move directly over Slovakia, we can expect calm atmospheric development without significant precipitation in the coming days.
The incoming high pressure is exactly the change we have been impatiently waiting for since January. Gray and foggy days with minimal light are now a thing of the past. Sunny weather takes over the scepter, which finally dispels the previous endless clouds.
Sunny days await Slovakia
Since Thursday, we have been waiting for a long series of stable days without a single drop of rain or snowflake. After the morning mists clear, the sun dominates the sky. We haven’t had such continuous sunny weather here since last year. In addition, it will warm up significantly from Thursday to Friday – temperatures jump to +7 to +13 °C and during the weekend they can attack up to +15 °C. The last day of winter, Saturday, will resemble a blossoming spring.
At the beginning of the week, on Monday or Tuesday, there is a possibility of a change in the form of a cold front. However, this prediction is still uncertain. It is quite possible that the mass of cold air will dissipate before reaching us and the solar series will continue. Nevertheless, there is no need to put off winter clothes. Long-term models for the next month indicate that March could surprise us with a noticeable cooling.
