ANP announces companies eligible to auction oil areas in October

A (National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels) released on Friday (June 26, 2026) the list of companies able to participate in the auctions for oil exploration areas, scheduled for October 7.

The agency qualified 19 companies for the 4th cycle of OPP (Permanent Sharing Offer) of production and 46 for the 6th cycle of OPC (Permanent Concession Offer). The relationships were published in DOU (Official Gazette of the Union). Read the (PDF – 188 kB).

Companies have until July 21st to submit a declaration of interest accompanied by a guarantee of offer for 1 or more sectors in the current notice, and may participate alone or in a consortium. According to the ANP, qualification does not mean that the company will necessarily participate in the auctions. The list only indicates who can offer bids, if there is interest.

Under the concession regime, the company buys the right to explore a certain area and owns everything it extracts. In sharing, the oil belongs to the Union, and the company receives the invested cost plus a slice of the profit, known as profit oil.

For the sharing auction, companies such as Petrobras, Prio Forte SA, Chevron, Shell, BP, Equinor and QatarEnergy. 23 blocks available in the Campos and Santos Basins will be offered in this dispute.

In the dispute for permanent concessions, companies such as Petrobras, Atem, Eneva and Origin. The notice offers 38 areas, with 495 exploratory blocks and 5 areas with marginal accumulation available in 11 sedimentary basins.

EQUATORIAL MARGIN

Also on Friday (June 26), the ANP approved the appointment of 86 exploration blocks in the Equatorial Margin region. The areas will not go up for auction in October, but may be included in future cycles of the agency’s permanent offer, possibly from 2027 onwards.

Of the approved blocks, 36 are in the Foz do Amazonas basin, 25 in Pará-Maranhão and 25 in Barreirinhas. To be ready, the areas still need to undergo regulatory and environmental analysis and protocols from the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Ministry of the Environment.
