According to comments from the victim’s friends on social media, the makeup artist Jaqueline Teodoro, 33, was at home with her motherNeide Teodoro, 57, her two children, Pietro, 9, and Sophia, 6, and her partner, when the property collapsed on Monday night.

She was rescued by the Fire Department on Tuesday morning. and taken to a hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries and died in the early hours of Wednesday. There is no information about the exact time she remained buried.

The death of the makeup artist’s mother was also confirmed this Wednesday by friends on social media. Jaqueline’s children and partner are still missing.

The young woman studied nursing at Grau Técnico, in Juiz de Fora. On social media, the institution lamented her death and reported that Jaqueline’s wake was scheduled to take place between 8:30 am and 1 pm, at the Juiz de Fora Municipal Cemetery. The burial will take place later, in the same place.

A friend of Jaqueline paid tribute to mother and daughter on social media “You were the best mother and grandmother possible,” he wrote to Neide. “What do you mean, deny it, we wake up and you’re not with us anymore? You were always so incredible, the coolest and funniest at the same time”, he said about Jaqueline.

The Paineiras neighborhood, where the makeup artist lived, is among the four that had streets evacuated on Tuesday due to the possibility of new storms. In addition to Paineiras, residents of the Três Moinhos, Vila Ideal and Esplanada neighborhoods were also asked to leave their homes.

Until the last update released by the Minas Gerais Fire Department, this Wednesday morning, the heavy rains that hit Juiz de Fora and Ubá left at least 40 dead.

Juiz de Fora recorded the highest number of deaths, with 34 fatalities. In Ubá, the Fire Department reported, on Tuesday, that seven people had died. However, the corporation clarified that one of the deaths was not directly related to the rains and, therefore, the number of fatalities in the municipality was adjusted to six.

As of early Wednesday afternoon, there were 25 missing in Juiz de Fora and two in Ubá. In total, 208 people were rescued in the region.

The city of Matias Barbosa, neighboring Juiz de Fora, was also covered by water after the storm, but has not recorded any deaths or missing people so far.
