The United Nations Security Council meeting on March 2, aimed at discussing education, technology, peace and security, will be chaired by the US first lady. This never happened.

The First Lady of the United States will preside over a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, as soon as the United States assumes the rotating leadership of the body, on March 2, the North American Presidency announced this Thursday.

“First Lady Melania Trump is about to make history at the United Nations, as soon as the United States assumes the presidency of the Security Council, by highlighting the role of education in promoting tolerance and world peace”, declared, in a statement, the Presidency of the United States.

For the first time, a sitting First Lady of the United States will preside over a meeting of the Security Council, when the body’s members will address topics such as education, technology, peace and security.

A meeting on “Children, Technology and Education in Times of Conflict” is scheduled for the same day, according to the White House, with the participation of the United States representative to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, as well as other members of the UN Security Council.

The decision was communicated by the White House to the UN Security Council, according to United Nations sources, indicating that the message conveyed by US authorities included an appeal by Melania Trump for peace through education.
