Michele Hundley Smith disappeared in December 2001 after going Christmas shopping. She was recently found alive in North Carolina, allowing authorities to serve an arrest warrant that has remained active for more than two decades.
One after leaving home to do Christmas shopping and never returning, was recently found alive living in the US state of North Carolina. Now, after being identified, she was arrested for an offense committed 25 years ago.
According to the magazine which cites a statement from the Michele Hundley Smith was arrested in Robeson County on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in courtrelated to an accusation of driving under the influence of alcohol dating back to 2001.
Court records indicate that Michele Hundley Smith was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at November 11, 2001 and who did not appear in court on the scheduled date, December 27th of that same year.
Failure to appear led to the issuance of an arrest warrant which remained active for more than two decades and who could now be executed after confirming his identity, recently discovered by the authorities.
The woman, currently over 60, paid bail on the day of arrestremaining free pending the new hearing. She was summoned to appear in Rockingham County District Court. March 26where the process will resume.

The woman was located on February 20th. Michelle Hundley Smith had 38 years when she was last seen, in December 2001, in the city of Eden, in Rockingham County, in the US state of New Hampshire. At the time, he left behind three childrenthen aged 19, 14 and 7.
According to authorities, the woman explained that abandoned the family due to recurring domestic problemsalthough there were no formal records of these occurrences at the time, expressly asking that the its location was not made public.
