Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) met governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, this Friday morning (27), and stated that the two will “make history together”.
On social media, Flávio called Tarcísio a “friend” and said that they will be together not only in São Paulo to restore “hope to all Brazilians”.
After the meeting at the Palace, they must go to Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo), to the president of the PL, .
Flávio’s PL has been trying to grab the vice-president spot on the governor’s ticket for re-election, currently occupied by Felício Ramuth (PSD). The name used by the party is that of the state deputy, president of the Assembly.
In recent weeks, a list of signatures in support of André’s nomination for vice-president has been circulating in the house. Deputies interviewed by the report, however, state that this may have been a strategic error, because Tarcísio can understand that he is being pressured.
The governor’s interlocutors often stated that his preference was to keep Ramuth in office. Last week, however, information came to light that the deputy is suspected of having laundered more than US$1.6 million (around R$8.3 million), which he denies.
On Monday (23), questioned by the press, Tarcísio said that “there is always gossip before elections” and denied that the case had an influence on the formation of the ticket.
The Secretary of Government, Gilberto Kassab (PSD), a supporter of Ramuth, had also been trying to secure the position, but his relationship with the governor has deteriorated.
Engagement in Flávio’s campaign
Since the end of last year, Tarcísio had been favored by Bolsonarists because he had not yet expressed more emphatic support for Flávio’s pre-candidacy. The group believed that the governor was dissatisfied because he had not been chosen by his former boss, the former president, to run for President.
At the end of January, Tarcísio even canceled a visit to Bolsonaro in Papudinha, after the senator said that the meeting would take place so that his father could frame the former minister. The cancellation with the former president’s allies.
At the time, questioned by the press, the governor said that he was never pressured by Bolsonaro and stated that he “will work hard”. Since then, Tarcísio has left the Bolsonaro supporters’ sights.
At Alesp, Flávio and Tarcísio will participate in the tribute to Valdemar, proposed by his pupil, deputy André do Prado. Interlocutors believe that the event is another opportunity for the parliamentarian to try to consolidate himself as an option for the ticket. Valdemar will receive the Collar of Honor for Legislative Merit.
Although the relationship between Tarcísio and the PL president is more pacified, with Valdemar even putting pressure on the governor, things haven’t been calm.
Politicians who followed the 2022 electoral campaign in the state report that, although the PL was in Tarcísio’s alliance, Valdemar worked for the re-election of (no party) at the time.
In the former president’s first term, when director of Dnit (National Department of Transport Infrastructure), Tarcísio promoted the dismissals of Valdemar’s sponsors. At that time, the PR (formerly PL) controlled the department and had its appointments dismissed in an anti-corruption “cleaning”.
