According to information from the Fire Department, the flames started around 10pm, possibly originating from air conditioning equipment, and spread to the third floor of the historic building.
The corporation mobilized at least 10 vehicles to control the fire, which affected approximately 50 square meters of the building. The quick action of firefighters was essential to prevent the flames from spreading to other areas of the building.
Historical heritage
The building is considered an important historical heritage in the city of São Paulo. Founded in 1827, the institution is one of the most traditional and renowned law schools in the country, having trained important figures in Brazilian history.
According to the Fire Department, no injuries were reported during the incident. The exact causes of the fire will be investigated to determine whether it was actually the air conditioning that caused the flames, as initially suspected.
