Germany: Chaos on the streets, transportation paralyzed

In the depots today and tomorrow the buses and trams in most states in the following the call of the union Verdi for warning strikes. This morning the suffering for many workers is a given.

and will be completed overnight into Sunday. In some areas, the strike already started on Thursday, while it is not excluded that the effects of the mobilizations will continue until Sunday, even if the strike ends late on Saturday night.

New collective agreement

Negotiations to sign a new job are being conducted between municipal employers’ and workers’ associations in all 16 federal states.

Raises and better working conditions

The Verdi trade union is demanding, in addition to the increases, better working conditions, such as fewer weekly working hours, longer rest periods as well as higher bonuses for night and weekend work.

Without progress the negotiations between employers and trade unions

According to the Verdi union as well as the employers, the talks are not making significant progress. It is obviously for this reason that the representatives of the local transport workers want to put new pressure on the employers today and tomorrow to accept their demands.
