Associations that bring together betting platforms asked the meeting to negotiate a technical cooperation agreement with the ministry and the Ministry of Finance’s Secretariat for Prizes and Bets.
The request was formulated by ANJL (National Association of Games and Lotteries), which represents, among others, Bet Nacional, Aposta Ganha and Sorte Online, by Aigaming (International Gaming Association) and by Abrajogo (Brazilian Association of International Gaming Operators and Providers). Games).
The request was made to the Minister (Health), the secretaries Regis Dudena (Prizes and Betting) and Giovanni Rocco Neto (Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sport) and Sônia Barros, director of the Department of Mental Health of the Ministry of Health.
Companies are in the spotlight because of possible harmful effects on the mental health and debt of gamblers.
The agreement would have four goals. One of them is to carry out a survey to identify the profile, gaming pattern and behavior of Brazilian bettors. The intention is to seek information about the percentage of the population that suffers from a gambling disorder and the main triggers that end up leading these gamblers to addiction. The research would have technical approval from the Ministry of Health.
Another point is the use of artificial intelligence in the General Betting System to monitor the profile and gaming pattern of Brazilians in real time. This would allow the monitoring of suspicious activities and the identification and prevention of problematic patterns, in the assessment of associations.
The associations also want a protocol of responsible gaming indicators to be monitored by operators on their platforms. Furthermore, they suggest the creation of a working group between the associations, the Prizes and Betting Secretariat and the Ministry of Health to develop a standard protocol defining the minimum indicators that must be monitored by Brazilian operating agents.
The entities also sent a proposal for regulatory guidelines for a problem gambling monitoring system in Brazil.
Among the elements that the associations indicate that the system contains is the identification of the risk profile of each bettor and the possibility of imposing unilateral restrictions by the operator on the accounts of bettors identified as problematic, such as deposit limits, betting restrictions and suppression of bonus.
