Moscow’s reaction after its close ally was severe. The vice president of the Russian Security Council and former president of the country, launched a direct attack against him, claiming that the “peacemaker” has once again revealed his true face.
In his Telegram post, Medvedev spoke of sham negotiations with Tehran, claiming that “everyone knew” that there was no real intention of a deal. “The talks with Iran were just a ‘cover’. No one doubted that. Nobody really wanted to negotiate anything,” he said.
At the same time, the Russian official attempted a historical parallel with spikes for the future of the United States. “The question is who has the patience to wait for their opponent’s ignominious end. The US is only 249 years old. The Persian Empire was founded 2,500 years ago. We’ll see what happens in 100 years…”, he noted meaningfully.
