The World Bank sent a letter to the government of , with a copy to , asking for haste in progressing the processes to release financing for the expansion of the SP subway.
with US$250 million, and the extension of Line 4-Yellow, to Taboão da Serra, with US$400 million.
The contracts are under analysis by the National Treasury and will still go through the . The bank warns, however, that the opinions already issued by the federal government are only valid until April.
“Failure to sign by April requires the restart of procedural steps, with additional delays and relevant impacts on the project schedule”, warned the bank, in the message sent last Thursday (26).
The World Bank requested urgent attention from the governor’s team and institutional coordination to ensure the completion of the procedures as soon as possible.
“The facts reinforce the urgency in finalizing the pending steps in order to enable the signing of financing in the shortest possible time, avoiding procedural rework and additional delays to the operations schedule”, concluded the document.
The maximum period, according to the institution, for signing contracts is 18 months, counting from approval by the board of directors. In the case of the green line, the deadline is in August this year.
To the Panel, the National Treasury stated that there is no delay and that the procedures continue in accordance with practice.
