Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes authorized former president Jair Bolsonaro to undergo cranial electrical stimulation (CES) treatment. According to the defense, this procedure aims to improve hiccups, anxiety, depression and sleep quality.
“I AUTHORIZE the entry of the doctor Ricardo Caiado into the prison premises in which the convict JAIR MESSIAS BOLSONARO is held, three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7 pm, with the professional being able to carry the device used to apply Cranial Electrical Stimulation, such as bilateral ear clips necessary for the procedure, duly inspected by the establishment”, wrote Moraes, in dispatch.
According to Bolsonaro’s defense, the treatment promotes the “functional regulation of central neurophysiological activity” applied through “bilateral ear clips” while the patient remains “at conscious rest”.
The former agent is imprisoned in the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District, also known as Papudinha, in Brasília. He was transferred to the location in January after an agreement made by former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro and the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Rep), with the Supreme Court.
