How poet Breyger races into dystopia with crazy poems

Yevgeniy Breyger, who was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine in 1989, came to Germany as a ten-year-old – as a “Jewish quota refugee”. He hasn’t calmed down since then. In 2022, Breyger had a brand new volume of poetry in the pipeline. He wanted to forward the manuscript to the editing department when Putin invaded Ukraine. He sat for a long time on his new creations, “baroque language / far from everyday life, master class in craftsmanship (…)”. But just: not a word about the war, which everyone spoke about when it broke out, as if they had always expected it to be visited upon them.
