Four are arrested in operation against cargo theft gang in SP

Four men were arrested by the Civil Police of São Paulo after an operation that disrupted a gang specializing in cargo theft this Monday (2). Warrants were served in the capital of São Paulo, in Ferraz de Vasconcelos, in Greater São Paulo, and in Mongaguá, on the coast of São Paulo.

The group had been investigated since November last year when a truck driver was targeted by the gang in the center of São Paulo. The investigations revealed a of actions, which involved leadership commands, logistics, execution and support during escapes.

As a result, five temporary arrest warrants and seven home. A stolen motorcycle, a 9mm pistol, a homemade shotgun, a simulacrum pistol and cocaine pins were also seized.

The action was carried out by the 2nd Police Station of the Anti-Kidnapping Division, with support from the GER (Special Reaction Group) and Garra/Dope (Armed Robbery and Assault Repression Group of the Department of Strategic Police Operations).

Part of the gang was already arrested

This Monday’s operation was the result of a crime that occurred on November 12 in the Pari neighborhood, in the central area of ​​São Paulo. At the time, a truck driver was unloading goods from a chain of retail stores when he was approached by three criminals who announced the robbery, one of whom was armed.

The victim was kept in a car for around an hour while the suspects stole the truck and the cargo valued at more than R$220,000. During the action, a tracking signal blocker was used, a typical device for load.

The PM (Military Police) located the victim in the Lajeado neighborhood and arrested two people involved in the robbery, in addition to collecting a simulated firearm, ammunition and tampered license plates from the vehicle used.
