Leaders of and hope that the federation between the two parties, called the Progressive Union, will be approved in March by the TSE (Superior Electoral Court).
One of the last formal obstacles was overcome in recent days with the parties’ decision to give up the acronym UP to designate the federation. There was an objection from the court’s technical area due to the fact that there already existed a party with that name, the left-wing UP (Popular Unity).
The federation aims to elect close to 100 federal deputies in October. In the presidential dispute, he is considering remaining neutral or supporting the candidacy of Flávio Bolsonaro (PL).
