It is confirmed, the Natanz nuclear facility is partially damaged: Are there radiological consequences?

  • The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed partial damage to the Natanz facility.
  • Mainly the entrance buildings leading to the underground part of the Natanz complex are damaged.
  • IAEA experts currently do not expect any radiological consequences of this attack.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on Tuesday that Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility is partially damaged as a result of a US-Israeli airstrike. The AP agency drew attention to it, reports TASR.

According to the IAEA, the “entrance buildings” to the underground part of the nuclear facility in Natanz are damaged, but at present “no radiological consequences are expected”.

Iran’s ambassador to the IAEA, Reza Najafi, already claimed on Monday that the Natanz nuclear facility was hit by Israeli-American strikes. IAEA Director Rafael Grossi said on the same day that the agency has so far seen no signs of damage to any of Iran’s nuclear facilities.
