The United Kingdom plans to send a warship to defend its Akrotiri base in Cyprus, the British newspaper The Times wrote on Tuesday. TASR informs about it according to a Reuters report.

Citing three anonymous sources, the newspaper said Defense Secretary John Healey met senior military officials on Tuesday and discussed the deployment of the destroyer HMS Duncan in Cyprus.

Greece then sent two frigates and two F-16 fighter jets to Cyprus. According to CNA, France is sending anti-missile and anti-drone systems and two frigates to the island.
