The current conflict in the Middle East, which broke out after Saturday’s attack by the United States and Israel on Iran, has the potential to flare up, according to Czech President Petr Pavle. He announced this on Tuesday while leaving the Chamber of Deputies, which he visited for the first time in its new term. He emphasized that the situation will affect the security and prosperity of the Czech Republic, reports TASR in Prague.
- According to Peter Pavle, the current conflict in the Middle East has significant escalation potential.
- Pavel claims that the conflict will affect the security and economic prosperity of the Czech Republic.
- The President draws attention to the rise in fuel prices and subsequent energy prices.
- According to Pavle, retaliatory measures can further worsen the security situation in the region and in Europe.
- Pavel warns against a possible wave of migration that will also affect the Czech Republic.
“We should not scare our citizens, but neither should we pretend that nothing fundamental is happening. It’s not just a limited conflict in one region… It’s a conflict that has a lot of potential to flare up, and some signs are already pointing in that direction. It is a conflict that will indirectly and directly affect the security and prosperity of our country. We can already see how fuel prices are rising, this will also be reflected in the rise in energy prices“, the president pointed out.
Pavel expects that due to some retaliatory measures, the security situation may worsen. According to him, the consequence of the conflict could also be a wave of migration, which would affect the Czech Republic as well. “There are many things that we should pay attention to and it would certainly be worthwhile for not only the government but all the security agencies to pay attention to this situation every day,” added Pavel.
