French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he is sending his nuclear aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its escort frigates to the Mediterranean, amid the escalation of war in the Middle East following attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran.
“In view of this unstable situation and the uncertainties of the coming days, I have ordered the , its air resources and its escort frigates to head to the Mediterranean,” Macron said in a televised address to the nation.
