Actor convicted of assault against women was introduced in the acronym by the party’s state president, Washington Reis
The MDB directory in Rio de Janeiro announced on Tuesday (3 March 2026) the actor Dado Dolabella as a pre-candidate for federal deputy. The party’s state president, , published a video with the announcement, but later deleted the recording.
Dolabella has already been convicted of assault against women.
In the video, Reis stated that the actor has “political blood in his veins” and that he is “a man who is committed to his family, to the good principles of society”.
When commenting on the pre-candidacy, Dolabella said that he sees the decision as an opportunity to act on family and social issues.
“What an honor, I thank you for the opportunity. I can guarantee that there will be no lack of fight, that there will be no lack of desire, that there will be no lack of determination to bring back balance to the family.“, he stated. “Bring back balance for children, for women, for men. Because we are seeing a lot of imbalance there, with a lot of wrong things happening, and we need to change this story. So, count on me so we can restore balance in the family”, he declared.
This Wednesday (March 4), Dolabella posted on social media in which he defends his own candidacy and declares support for the senator (PL) for the Presidency of the Republic.
“And I make it clear that I believe that Flávio Bolsonaro is today the name that most aligns with the ideas that I defend for Brazil. Therefore, I intend to support him as a candidate for President”, said the pre-candidate.
Convictions and charges
Dolabella has convictions related to assaults against women. In 2008, he was convicted of assaulting actress Luana Piovani, his fiancee at the time. In posts on social media this Wednesday (March 4), Piovani classified the pre-candidacy as “ready joke” and questioned how someone with a criminal case can run for public office.
In 2010, model Viviane Sarahyba accused him of physical attacks during their relationship. She obtained a protective order against the actor.
The Rio de Janeiro Court sentenced Dolabella in August 2025 to 2 years and 4 months in open detention for assaulting an ex-girlfriend, Mariana Dolabella, who is also his cousin.
