The whole of Slovakia, but also the Czech Republic, has been having fun for the last week American influencer Gwen McMullen (29), who looks strikingly similar to Prime Minister Robert Fico (61). The news about her appearance with our Prime Minister reached her only after a big puddle, but of course the biggest “shock” was the Slovaks, a large part of whom must have thought at first that it was a creation of AI (artificial intelligence).
New followers from Europe suddenly started flocking to Gwen’s profile, and she gradually figured out what was behind it. “They just put me on some news website saying I look like an old guy. It’s actually a bit humiliating and it’s probably not right to be offended because of this, but I have to say that being mentioned globally is completely adequate,” she made no secret of her initial outrage, but then found something positive about the whole thing.
In addition to ordinary Slovaks, her Instagram profile is also visited by famous faces and politicians. In the first days, he responded to the influencer’s video, in which she called herself the queen of Slovakia, head of KDH Milan Majerský. Gwen said in a comment that “it would still be a better government than Fico’s.”
The American woman recently published with a soundtrack from the series Hannah Montana (teenager Miley Stewart living a double life; during the day an average student and at night a well-known musician Hannah Montana, editor’s note) and added a strong description to it. “Me and the prime minister will never take a picture together,” she captioned the video.
A dialogue from a well-known show sounds in the background, to which he opens his mouth in sync. “You and Hannah Montana will never be together! Why not? Because… I’m Hannah Montana,” reads her artwork. The post was edited by former foreign minister and presidential candidate Ivan Korčok (PS). “He prefers photos (Fico, editor’s note) especially with dictators, not queens like you,” stated. Gwen immediately took advantage of her situation and showed business acumen. She called herself the “Queen of Slovakia” and announced to her supporters that she had prepared merch for them in the form of a T-shirt with her likeness on it. “I had to buy my own merch before it sold out!” the influencer joked on Thursday. Her words became reality in less than a day. “I can’t believe you’ve completely sold out of my merch! I can’t wait to see you in it. Thank you for the huge support, Slovakia,” she said enthusiastically.
Fans paid almost 30 euros for a T-shirt without any problems. Some people could perceive it negatively with the idea that Gwen just wants to make money from the Slovaks. However, the influencer proved that her heart is in the right place and she donated the profit from the sale to the non-profit organization DePaul Slovensko, which helps homeless people. “I’ve already donated the money. Here’s the receipt. I’m so happy to be able to give back in some small way to the community that has shown me so much kindness and support,” she revealed.
