Tarcísio names Lula fired for coup meeting – 12/19/2024 – Power

The governor (Republicans) appointed to a position of trust in his administration a federal civil servant dismissed from the AGU (Attorney General of the Union), in the government (), after the discovery of his presence at the coup-based meeting promoted by () on 5 July 2022.

Tarcísio published a decree this Thursday (19) appointing Adler Anaximandro Alves to the presidency of the administrative council of SPPrev (Social Security), replacing Marina Brito Battilani, who had been secretary of Social Security at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security during the Bolsonaro administration and was appointed CEO of SPPrev on the 10th.

The body is the sole manager of the pension schemes for civil servants and military personnel in São Paulo.

Alves has been a career federal prosecutor since 2003. At the July 2022 meeting, he held the position of secretary general of Consulting at the AGU and accompanied the then attorney general of the Union, Bruno Bianco.

Alves is the second member of the meeting to obtain a position in the Tarcísio government. The then controller-general of the Union, Wagner Rosário, is the current controller-general of the State.

There is no record of Alves’ demonstrations at the coup-related meeting. Its boss defended, among other points, that the Armed Forces were integral to the electoral process and that Bolsonaro had the legitimacy to question the polls.

Rosário said that the CGU should work together with the Federal Police and the Armed Forces to strengthen the military’s critical actions towards the electoral system.

The video was discovered by the PF in February 2024, on a computer belonging to Bolsonaro’s aide-de-camp, Mauro Cid. At the time, the employee remained at the AGU, occupying the position of coordinator in the Management and Calculation Directorate of the agency’s Federal Attorney General’s Office, in an appointment made by Lula’s AGU, Jorge Messias.

When communicating Alves’ dismissal, in the same month, the AGU released a note stating that it had opened a “preliminary instruction, of an investigative nature, to verify whether there was a disciplinary transgression” against the server. The ordinance announcing his dismissal states that it was “by request”.

A Sheet questioned the AGU about the results of the preliminary investigation, but received no response. The report contacted Alves, but he did not respond.

In a note, the Tarcísio management said that Alves “is a career federal attorney at the Attorney General’s Office and meets all the technical requirements for appointment as President of the Board of Directors of SPPrev.”

According to the note, “in the procedure initiated by the AGU it was clarified that the civil servant was at the meeting because he was officially summoned”. The note also states that “the AGU file has already been archived”.
