Chamber approves aid of R$600 for those affected by rains in MG

The Chamber of Deputies approved this Thursday (March 5, 2026), which establishes emergency aid of R$600 per month for residents of Zona da Mata, in Minas Gerais. The benefit is aimed at those who lost their homes due to recent climate disasters in the region, which February recorded the highest volume of rain in history. The proposal goes to the Senate.

HOW THE AID WILL WORK

The benefit will last for 6 months. Here are the rules:

  • Target audience – over 18 years old and teenage mothers who lost their property;
  • Familiar limits – restricted to up to 2 members per family unit;
  • Single parent families – heads of family (men or women) are entitled to two quotas (R$ 1,200).

Payment will be made by federal banks via digital social savings account, without discounts for bank debts.

In addition to the direct transfer, the project authorizes the INSS (National Social Security Institute) to advance the payment of social security and assistance benefits to residents of the affected areas.
