Already early in the morning, wishes are pouring in from all sides. Those comrades who walk from the subway station to the exhibition hall in Vienna’s Leopoldstadt district at a quarter to eight are treated to a serenade. “Good morning, good morning, eyes open, eyes open,” a group sings to the tune of “Brother Jakob” towards the Lobau Tunnel; “Finally think about the people, finally about the people, not about the money, not about the money.” A few meters away, a mini-demo is campaigning for the Amerlinghaus cultural center on Spittelberg, red youth representatives have brought a message of transparency: “Rich tax – dare, SPÖ!”
