The Assembly of Experts appointed the new Iranian supreme guide, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s successorwho died on February 28 in attacks by Israel and the United States, members of the clerical body informed this Sunday (8), who did not reveal the name of the chosen one.

Another member of the assembly, Mohamad Mehdi Mirbagheri, confirmed in a video released by the Fars agency that a “firm opinion was adopted, which reflects the majority position”.
One member suggested that the son of the late Ali Khamenei would fill the role.
Mojtaba Khamenei’s name was mentioned as one of the possible successors to his father, who became supreme leader in 1989.
This is the position of highest political and religious authority in Iran, with the final say on all matters of state.
