March 8, 2026 – International Women’s Day – will be marked in Brazil with events spread across the country’s five regions. The denunciation of violence against women is at the center of the demonstrations.

The women’s marches also include on the agenda, among other topics, criticism of imperialism, in view of the actions of the United States (USA) in the world; the defense of sovereignty; of democracy and which is currently being debated in Parliament.

The Brazilian Women’s Articulation (AMB), one of the organizations behind the acts, states that it will be on the streets to denounce violence against women.

“We are on the streets to demand an end to violence against our bodies and the protection of our lives. To end femicide”, wrote AMB in a manifesto.

“Capitalism, combined with patriarchy and racism, maintains the exploitation and suffering of women. Women in Brazil, Gaza, Cuba, Venezuela and in many other places face wars, threats to sovereignty, the advance of the extreme right and the withdrawal of basic rights”, completes the AMB manifesto.
