The conflict in the Middle East is creating pressure for another possible migration crisis. Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) thinks so. He agrees with the words of Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) that the state must also prepare for this dimension of the situation. He declares that will do everything to prevent illegal migration and protect Slovak borders. This follows from his statement in a video on the social network.
- According to the minister, the conflict in the Middle East increases the risk of new migration.
- The state should prepare for a possible migration crisis and the changing situation.
- The minister promises to do everything to protect the borders from illegal migration.
- The conflict in Iran is causing security risks, economic damage and rising energy prices.
- The minister claims that the KDH signed up to the PS policy by refusing to cooperate.
„For me, the safety of Slovak citizens is always in the first place. As in the past, I will do everything to protect our borders and prevent illegal migration. Such situations show that Slovakia must be prepared for a world that is changing extremely quickly, and that it will be necessary to open the issue of updating the security strategy of the Slovak Republic all the more urgently,” he concluded.
Šutaj Eštok also stated that the conflict in Iran has economic consequences in addition to security. He drew attention, for example, to rising energy prices. “At the same time, it causes serious complications for our citizens when returning from abroad. That’s why we launched repatriation flights from Tuesday last week, thanks to which we managed to get hundreds of Slovaks home,” he added.
At the same time, he commented on the KDH’s exclusion of cooperation with Hlas-SD. He thinks that the Christian Democrats signed up to PS politics with this step. “In other words, to a policy that is in direct conflict with the values that Christian Democrats have long subscribed to,” he pointed out.
