At the age of 65, the American actress Jennifer Runyon died on March 6, known to the audience mainly from the cult comedy Ghostbusters or from the sitcom Charles in Charge. She succumbed to a short battle with a serious illness, writes the website.
Her death was confirmed by longtime close friend Erin Murphy in a touching post on the social network Facebook. “It is with great sadness that I want to share the news that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman has passed away after a short battle with cancer. With some people, you just know you’re going to be friends before you even meet. She was an extraordinary woman. I will miss you, Jenn. My thoughts are with your family and beautiful children,” she wrote.
Runyon made her feature film debut in 1980 in the horror film To All a Good Night. Subsequently, she made her mark in supporting roles in the comedy Up the Creek and the global hit Ghostbusters. Both films premiered in 1984. In the same year, she also got one of the main roles – she played Gwendolyn Pierce during the first series of the sitcom Charles in Charge.
Her career continued smoothly even in the late 80s. In 1988, she played the character Cindy Brady in the TV movie A Very Brady Christmas, played the lead role in The In Crowd, and appeared in the pilot episode of the sci-fi series Quantum Leap. Viewers could also see her in the comedy 18 Again! and in episodic roles in popular series such as It’s a Murder, she wrote, A Man Called Sarge or Beverly Hills 90210.
