The Young Sherlock series arrived on Prime Video last Wednesday (4) imagining what the youth of the most famous fictional detective of all time would be like. The character of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is played by a face not so well known to the general public: the British actor Hero Fiennes Tiffin, 28 years old.
Born in London in 19997, he is the nephew of Oscar nominee Ralph Fienneswho brought to life the villain Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter saga. He also starred in a film such as Conclave, which earned him another nomination for the most important film award. His uncle is also Joseph Finnes, best known for Shakespeare in Love and The Handmaid’s Tale.
Hero had small roles in television seriesbut gained greater recognition when starring in the After franchise, inspired by Anna Todd’s books. From 2019 to 2023, he brought the character Hardin Scott to life in five films that narrate a troubled love story between two young adults. He also played Tom Riddle – Voldemort’s real name in Harry Potter – in the seventh film in the franchise.
The actor also participated in The King Woman (2023), starring Viola Davis, and the horror comedy The Loneliest Boy in the World (2022). In 2025, he starred in the romantic comedy Burning the Movie, alongside Simone Ashley.

In the new Prime Video series, the British actor plays alongside Joseph, who plays Silas Homes. However, it was alongside his other uncle that Hero began his acting career: he played a young Tom Riddle (Lord Voldemort) in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth film in the saga in which Ralph played the villain.
Young Sherlock places Hero as a 19-year-old Sherlock Homes, a university student who takes risks on his first investigative adventures. The series is created and directed by Guy Ritchie, also director of the Sherlock Holmes films starring Robert Downey Jr. (2009 and 2011).
