Iran security chief threatens Trump for second time amid war

The head of Iran’s National Security Council warned US President Donald Trump to be careful and “not be eliminated”.

Ali Larijani, one of Iran’s most powerful figures, stated that “the Iranian nation does not fear your empty threats”, in a publication this Tuesday (10).

“Not even those bigger than you were able to eliminate the Iranian nation. Be careful,” Larijani added. This is the second time in recent days that Larijani has insinuated that Trump could be the target of attacks.

On Saturday (7), he said that because of the joint attacks by the US and Israel against Iran. “I have no idea what he’s talking about or who he is. I don’t care,” Trump responded.

Larijani’s most recent statements were a reaction to a post by Trump on social media, in which he warned against blocking the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump also claimed that the United States would destroy targets that would make Iran’s reconstruction virtually impossible if the Strait were blocked.

In a later post, Larijani said the Strait of Hormuz “will be a Strait of peace and prosperity for all or a Strait of defeat and suffering for warmongers.”

In November 2024, the US Department of Justice announced federal charges related to a foiled Iranian plot to assassinate Trump before that year’s presidential election.

The alleged plan was the latest revealed by American prosecutors in a growing list of Iranian plots to kill Trump, according to national security officials.
