The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued danger alerts for intense rains in all regions of the country. The biggest accumulations of rain this week, until next Monday (16), are predicted for the north of the state of São Paulo, Triângulo Mineiro, south of Goiás and areas in the north of Mato Grosso do Sul and the Legal Amazon.
For this Wednesday (11), there is a warning of great danger due to the accumulation of rain in the north of São Paulo, south of Minas and Triângulo Mineiro and the central region of Mato Grosso do Sul. Rainfall must exceed 60 millimeters per hour or above 100 millimeters per daywith a great risk of flooding, river overflows and landslides in cities with these characteristics.
The week is expected to feature persistent rain, with accumulations that could exceed 200 millimeters in the north of São Paulo and the Triângulo Mineiro.
Last weekend, two people died in the state of São Paulo, as a result of the rain. According to Civil Defense, the two deaths are associated with floods that occurred in the municipalities of São Bernardo do Campo and Sorocaba.
Last week, the storms that hit states in the Southeast Region since the end of February led the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development to recognize an emergency situation in 16 cities in Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
Most cities are in Minas Gerais, where the number of deaths caused by landslides and floods in Zona da Mata Mineira it exceeded 70.
Temperatures
A cold front also advances along the coast of the South and Southeast regions, dropping maximum temperatures in the east of these regions. On the other hand, the trend is for high temperatures in the center-north of Brazil, especially in areas in the interior of the Northeast Region.
