Bolsonaro asks the STF to receive a visit from a US advisor

Former president proposes meeting with Darren Beattie, adviser to the Trump administration, on dates outside the regular visit calendar

The former president (PL) asked the (Federal Supreme Court) for authorization to meet with Darren Beattie at the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District, known as Papudinha, in Brasília. Beattie is a senior advisor for Brazil policy at the US State Department. The request was presented to the STF this Tuesday (10 March 2026). Here is it (PDF – 657kB).

Bolsonaro proposed the dates of March 16th and 17th for the meeting. These dates are outside the prison unit’s regular visiting calendar, which take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The former president requested flexibility in this schedule. The justification given was Beattie’s restricted schedule during his stay in Brazil.

The American advisor was recently appointed to the position in the Trump administration. Beattie has criticized the minister on previous occasions. The request will be analyzed by Moraes, who is the case’s rapporteur. The decision on the request has not yet been released.
