The regional bus was operated by PostBus, which is connected to the state post office. Images from the scene, published in Swiss media, showed flames spreading through the vehicle. “We are deeply touched by this tragic news. Our thoughts are with the victims, the injured and all the families,” PostBus said in a statement on its website.

According to police information so far, at least six people died in the fire, while identification of victims may take several days. The burnt wreckage of the bus was removed from the scene of the tragedy on Wednesday night and traffic returned to normal in the morning.
