The senator will resign from his position this Wednesday (11) to take up a position as advisor at the TCE (State Audit Court) of Roraima. He is leader of the Republicans in the Senate.
The person who assumes the remainder of Mecias’ term, which runs until January 2027, is Roberta Acioly (Republicans), known as Nurse Roberta. She is 46 years old and is a dental surgeon and has a master’s degree in Public Health.
The new senator was also municipal health secretary of São Luiz do Anauá, professor of the technical nursing course at Ceterr (Roraima Specialized Technical Education Center) and councilor in the municipality, where she began her public life.
Mecias was appointed by Governor Antônio Denarium (PP) to the position, which is for life. He is 64 years old and will only need the TCE in 2037, when he turns 75, the maximum age to hold the position.
He will take office on March 16th, occupying the seat of Manoel Dantas, advisor in June last year. The salary of a TCE counselor is R$39,700.
Elected senator in 2018, Mecias is the father of the minister of the TCU (Tribunal de Contas da União) Jhonatan de Jesus, who was a deputy for the Republicans of Roraima.
