BYD announced this Friday, the 13th, the creation of the company’s first Automotive Testing and Evaluation Center in Brazil and the launch of a new experience and research and development (R&D) platform in Rio de Janeiro. The ceremony was attended by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The planned investment is R$300 million, and the center will be implemented in the Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport complex (Galeão), in an area of more than 183 thousand m2. The project is inspired by structures already operated by the company in China. Work will begin at the end of 2026, with opening scheduled for 2028.
The center provides infrastructure for testing speed, power, resistance, durability and performance, as well as tracks for different terrains, an off-road circuit and the evaluation of the U8 model’s flotation in a swimming pool.
