41-year-old man crashed a vehicle with fireworks into a synagogue in Michigan; explosives did not detonate
The man suspected of breaking into a synagogue in the United States on Thursday (March 12, 2026) spent US$2,250.96 buying fireworks 2 days before the attack in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
According to security camera footage shows Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, 41, shopping at a Phantom Fireworks store in Livonia on March 10.
The report stated that Ghazali made two purchases of 20 items, such as firecrackers and fireworks that automatically launch several charges into the air and produce a series of explosions and visual effects. He would have spent US$1,369.02 on the first purchase, at 2pm, and another US$881.94, at 2:17pm, totaling US$2,250.96.
ATTACK ON TEMPLE ISRAEL
Ghazali for more than 2 hours in the parking lot of the Temple Israel synagogue and Jewish school before driving a pickup truck into the building. The attack was carried out at 12:19 pm and hit a security guard who was at the entrance to the place.
According to the chronology released by the FBI, the vehicle was trapped in an internal corridor at the location and Ghazali fired from inside the truck. There was an exchange of gunfire with security guards. The engine compartment caught fire.
The author suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators found a large quantity of commercial-use fireworks and gallons of flammable liquid in the truck. The fireworks were never detonated.
Ayman Mohamad Ghazali was born in Lebanon, but was a naturalized American citizen.
