MEC punishes 57 medical courses after Enamed results

Seven degrees will not be able to enroll students and 12 will have places reduced by half

The (Ministry of Education) applied sanctions this Tuesday (March 17, 2026) to 57 medical courses that presented unsatisfactory results in Enamed (National Medical Training Assessment Examination) of 2025. The decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Union. Ice cream a (PDF – 551 KB).

Private institutions account for 53 penalized courses. Another 4 belong to federal universities. Graduations received grades 1 or 2 on a scale that goes up to 5. Punishments vary depending on the grade and the percentage of graduates considered proficient in the exam. Enamed defines 60 points as the minimum to reach proficiency.

Courses prohibited from enrolling new students

Seven courses received a grade of 1 with less than 30% of graduates considered proficient. These degrees are prevented from accepting new students:

  • Estácio de Sá University (Angra dos Reis-RJ), from Yduqs;

  • Unilago (São José do Rio Preto-SP);

  • Adamantina University Center (Adamantina-SP);

  • College of Dracena (Dracena-SP);

  • Unifan (Aparecida de Goiânia-GO);

  • Porto Velho Metropolitan College (Porto Velho-RO);

  • Uninorte (Rio Branco-AC).

Courses with 50% reduction in vacancies

Another 12 courses received a grade of 1 with proficiency between 30% and 40% of participants and should reduce the number of places by half:

  • Unipac (Judge of Fora-MG);

  • Brazil University (Fernandópolis-SP);

  • University of Contestado (Mafra-SC);

  • University of Mogi das Cruzes (Mogi das Cruzes-SP);

  • Nilton Lins University (Manaus-AM);

  • Uniclosed (Goiatuba-GO);

  • University Center of the Americas (São Paulo-SP);

  • Faculty of Health and Human Ecology (Vespasiano-MG);

  • Ceuni-Fametro (Manaus-AM);

  • São Leopoldo Mandic (Araras-SP);

  • Estácio (Jaraguá do Sul-SC), from Yduqs;

  • Zarns College (Itumbiara-GO), from the bottom Exchange.

Courses with 25% reduction in vacancies

Another 34 degrees received concept 2, with 40% to 50% of graduates considered proficient. These institutions will have a reduction in 25% in registrations.

Among them are:

  • Ânima Educação Group: Anhembi Morumbi University;

  • Ser Educacional Group: Uninassau (Barreiras-BA, Recife-PE and Vilhena-RO units);

  • Health Group: Unigranrio (Rio de Janeiro), Porto Velho-RO and Itaperuna-RJ units, Faculty of Medical Sciences of Paraíba (João Pessoa-PB), Faculty of Porto Nacional (TO), Faculty of Medical Sciences (Jaboatão dos Guararapes-PE) and Faculty of Medical Sciences (Santa Inês-MA);

  • Yduqs Group: Estácio (Ribeirão Preto-SP, Alagoinhas-BA, Juazeiro-BA and Canindé-CE units);

  • Cogna Education Group: Unic (Cuiabá-MT);

  • Vitru Education Group: Unicesumar (Corumbá-MT);

  • Other institutions: Fafipe (Penápolis-SP), University of Ribeirão Preto (Guarujá-SP), Iguaçu University (Nova Iguaçu and Itaperuna-RJ), Santo Amaro University (São Paulo), University of Marília (Marília-SP), Paranaense University (Umuarama-PR), Unifeso (Teresópolis-RJ), Unifunec (Santa Fé do Sul-SP), Centro Universitário Ingá (Maringá-PR), Famene (João Pessoa-PB), Atitus Educação (Passo Fundo-RS), FAMP (Mineiros-GO), UniFAMESC (Bom Jesus do Itabapoana-RJ), Faculty of Medicine of Olinda (Olinda-PE) and Faculdade Atenas (Passos-MG).

Federal universities were also affected

The UFPA (Federal University of Pará) received grade 1, with 30% to 40% of graduates considered proficient. UFMA (Federal University of Maranhão)to Unila (Federal University of Latin American Integration), in Paraná, e a UFSB (Federal University of Southern Bahia) obtained grade 2.

These institutions will have a 50% reduction in the offer of new enrollments and will not be able to request an increase in places.

Restrictions on federal programs

All private courses with concepts 1 and 2 are prevented from expanding the number of places and signing new contracts with Fies (Student Financing Fund). They also lost access to (University for All Program).

Institutions will have 30 days to file an appeal against the precautionary measures. The sanctions remain valid until the next edition of Enamed, projected for October 2026.

A  (Brazilian Association of Higher Education Supporters) criticized the measures. The organization stated that the standardized application of sanctions without specific normative criteria creates legal uncertainty and compromises the sector’s regulatory predictability.
